We need your support

NewSPAL was formed by users because they wanted to create a more secure future for the Surrey Performing Arts Library collection. To be a success, NewSPAL will need your help! Many people have demonstrated how much support the library has from its users - in general, for the idea of a user-led library, and for our vision. We are proud to say that Surrey County Council has agreed to transfer the SPAL collection to NewSPAL, initially on the basis of a conditional loan of the collection but with the intention that the transfer will become unconditional after two to three years once NewSPAL has demonstrated that it is financially sustainable.
Before the initial transfer can take place, we need to demonstrate that we can raise all the money we need to set up the new library and performing arts hire service (find out more on our NewSPAL, New Start campaign page). We have already raised over £118,000 but to give it a really good start we estimate that we need to raise at least another £98,000. We also have to find the volunteer help needed to manage the transition. Teams of volunteers have already been working hard on re-cataloguing the collection in preparation for the transfer. As the project evolves there will always be a need for more volunteers with varied skills and experience. If you can, please pledge your support for NewSPAL or make a donation now. There are several ways in which you can help and any one of them will be a step towards securing this fantastic resource for many years to come. Please tell us via the Contact page whether you can pledge some time, some money, your voice or professional expertise or anything else. It is helpful to know how much support we may be able to call on. Thank you!

Who can help: performers, leaders, committee members, dancers, actors, singers, instrumentalists, AND audience members.
What help is needed: professional skills and knowledge around acquiring and fitting out new premises (legal, financial, practical, fundraising), library experience, and a whole host of willing clerical volunteers who can be trained and led by these experts.
What about funds: we are asking those who can to make a donation.
So how do we pledge our support and offer our time and/or skills?
Please join our email database (so we can keep in touch with you about the progress of the project), to pledge donations, and/or to offer your services.
